Exploring Lyon’s heritage with our international students
Last week, EKLYA School of Business, the business school of the CCI Lyon Métropole Saint-Étienne Roanne, organized a cultural visit for students enrolled in the International Business Certificate (IBC) program.
The group discovered the Maison des Canuts, located in the historic Croix-Rousse district of Lyon.
This visit reflects EKLYA’s commitment to offering its international students a holistic learning experience, combining academic knowledge, cultural discovery, and understanding of the local economy.

Discovering Lyon’s silk-making heritage
The goal of this visit was to introduce students to one of Lyon’s most emblematic traditions — silk production and the heritage of the Canuts, the city’s historic silk weavers.
During the tour, students:
- attended live demonstrations on traditional Jacquard looms,
- learned about the working and living conditions of the Canuts,
- and explored the economic and cultural impact of the silk industry on Lyon’s identity.
This hands-on experience helped connect local heritage with economic development, two key dimensions of the IBC program.

An intercultural learning experience
The International Business Certificate at EKLYA School of Business welcomes students from partner universities around the world for a semester in Lyon. The program combines academic courses in English with cultural immersion activities, helping participants to:
- Strengthen intercultural awareness,
- Enhance language and professional skills,
- And integrate into the EKLYA international community.
EKLYA, a business school open to the world
Through initiatives like this one, EKLYA reaffirms its international outlook — preparing students to thrive in a global business environment while promoting the economic and cultural heritage of Lyon.
