logos-instit4

EKLYA is proud to be a holder of the Erasmus Charter, which means that we are committed to respecting the fundamental principles of European programs and their values: Equal opportunities, openness to others and humanism.

The Erasmus+ program

The Erasmus+ programme for higher education contributes to the creation of a European higher education area by pursuing several objectives:

  • Improving the quality and strengthening the European dimension of higher education
  • Increasing the mobility of students, teachers, and university staff
  • Strengthening multilateral cooperation
  • Transparency and recognition of acquired qualifications
  • Internationalization of European higher education institutions

The Erasmus+ program promotes mobility actions in Europe and internationally for students (periods of study or internships), teaching staff, as well as all staff of higher education establishments.

Erasmus+ financial aid

EKLYA School of Business has held the Erasmus+ charter since 2019, allowing our students to benefit from scholarships for mobility in member countries of the Erasmus+ program in Europe.

Students who undertake a study mobility lasting from 3 to 12 months with one of our approved Erasmus+ partners (see mobility guides) benefit from a grant which varies depending on the destination.

Students who complete an internship in a company in one of the Erasmus+ member countries for a period of 2 to 12 months receive a grant that varies depending on the destination. To verify the eligibility of the internship for the Erasmus+ grant and to initiate the procedure described below, each student must submit a copy of their signed internship agreement to the International Department.

  • The student, accompanied by the International Service, must prepare an application before the mobility.
  • 80% of the Erasmus+ grant will be paid into the student’s bank account no later than one month before departure.

  • Upon receipt of the report, 20% of the Erasmus+ grant will be paid into the student’s bank account.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits are used in all modules and skill blocks of the EKLYA study program, with a validation of 30 ECTS credits per semester. In Erasmus+ exchange programs, the inter-institutional agreement ensures the automatic mutual recognition of credits earned during mobility.

Student transcripts, submitted approximately one month after the end-of-mobility assessment, must indicate the host institution’s grading scale with the corresponding ECTS levels. This will facilitate recognition procedures by the home institution after receipt of the transcript. Below is the grading scale used at EKLYA.

ECTS grading scale used at EKLYA:

ECTS LevelInstitutional grading scale (0-20)Appreciation
A16,00 - 20,00very good
B14,00 - 15,99good
C12,00 - 13,99pretty good

E10sufficient
FX8,00 - 9,99fail, some work required before the credit can be awarded

Our Erasmus policy

EKLYA's participation in the ERASMUS+ program, with the new guidelines outlined in the 2021-2027 charter, is essential for implementing our international development strategy outlined above and, more specifically, for achieving the strategic priorities set for the coming years.

The importance given in these strategic priorities to creating an attractive inbound English-language offering demonstrates our commitment to creating and strengthening exchange programs in the spirit of ERASMUS+ mobility.

In building ERASMUS exchange partnerships in Europe, we have realized an imbalance between the demand for outbound mobility (often mandatory) and the inbound offering, particularly in English, at business schools in France.

Unfortunately, offering programs in French no longer attracts enough students from our European partners. And the number of French students with a good command of a second language such as German or Spanish to take courses is insufficient and is actually declining. Furthermore, English is the language generally used in the business world, and English business terms have strongly penetrated various languages in Europe.
Emphasizing English as the language of instruction will not, however, mean abandoning the French language and culture: all incoming students will receive, at a minimum, French language survival courses and courses on understanding France and the French people.

And we ask our partners to offer our students the same exposure to the language and culture of their country. Despite choosing English as the international language of instruction, at EKLYA, we therefore insist on awareness and respect for diversity in Europe.

In line with our international strategy and its objectives, we have defined the following strategic priorities for the new ECHE 2021-2027 charter :

Leveraging the ECHE 2021-2027 charter as a guarantee of quality in the search for new partners :

As a recently internationalized school, holding the ECHE charter and having introduced the ECTS credit system for all our programs allows us to build exchange agreements with partners in ERASMUS+ program countries in Europe, such as Austria, Ireland, and Türkiye, where we are in advanced contact with new partners interested in mutual exchanges.

Leveraging the opportunities offered by ERASMUS+ for mobility with non-European partner countries :

In recent years, we have developed mobility and exchange programs with interesting partners in Georgia, Bahrain, South Korea, and Canada, countries seeking to expand their academic exchanges with Europe and France. Thanks to the Erasmus+ grant agreement, these partnerships could take on a new dimension and allow non-European students and teachers to receive financial support for mobility costs in Europe, which would encourage the establishment of genuine exchanges.

Introduce the new concept of BLENDED mobility proposed in the ECHE 2021-2027 charter :

60% of the student population at EKLYA currently follows work-study programs with an average pace of one week in class and three weeks in a company. Currently, these students find themselves excluded from the “traditional” semester-long mobility program, yet they are seeking international exposure. BLENDED mobility with “virtual” work on a remote project and short one-week mobility programs could be well suited to the work-study program’s work schedule. Studies at our primary partner in Germany, the Berufsakademie Leipzig, are conducted exclusively on a work-study basis. In the medium term, we could even extend the BLENDED mobility principle to incoming and outgoing mobility programs in specialized short seminars with certain non-European partners, such as our partners in South Korea.

Implement all stages of the European Student Card / ERASMUS GOING DIGITAL initiative :

The modernization of our practices with the gradual digitalization of as many of our international mobility programs as possible will be based on the timeline proposed by ERASMUS+ starting in 2020/2021 and the digital tools and networks implemented, starting with the new online inter-institutional agreements. As soon as we obtained the charter in 2018, EKLYA participated in an “ERASMUS without PAPER” seminar in Ghent, and we are following the progress in digitalization with great interest. Monitoring the stages of the European Student Card will also lead us to introduce and systematically use a grading table based on the ECTS scale, which will facilitate the automatic transfer of accurate results at the European level. Making ERASMUS+ actions and future projects more visible to all: EKLYA’s first academic year after obtaining ERASMUS+ grants (2019/2020) was devoted to mastering the processes during the first mobilities and then disrupted by an exceptional health crisis.

Submit cooperation projects in the medium term :

In line with our latest international strategic priority, EKLYA will attempt to leverage an Erasmus+ cooperation project to create, with several European partners, an innovative master’s degree format with a joint degree in European and international business. Other areas for cooperation projects could include the creation of a dual degree in luxury business, a center of excellence for EKLYA, and the development of local or regional student entrepreneurship with partners and companies located in an economic area comparable to that of the Lyon metropolitan area.

Our international partners

EKLYA has partner universities across five continents. These university partnerships offer opportunities for academic exchanges with these institutions.
