Born Global: a reference work by Laurent Dorey,
EKLYA School of Business, the business school of the Lyon Métropole Saint-Etienne Roanne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, values academic expertise in the service of education. As such, we are proud to highlight one of our lecturers and researchers, Laurent Dorey, a specialist in international development, who has published a book on Born Global companies.
This book, the result of several years of research and exchanges, features 50 testimonials from entrepreneurs in 33 countries across 6 continents, all at the helm of SMEs that chose to expand globally from the outset.

A fresh perspective on Born Global companies
Unlike traditional studies, which often focus on large companies or successful start-ups, Laurent Dorey has chosen to focus on these agile structures, which are still relatively unknown but have a very strong capacity for innovation and adaptation. The book addresses key topics:
- intercultural and organisational management on a global scale
- the evolution of economic models
- HR strategies in a globalised context
social responsibility and openness to diversity - the role of leadership in international growth
The content is designed to inspire future entrepreneurs, international managers and students who are interested in new models of success.
Expertise at the service of EKLYA students
As a lecturer at EKLYA, Laurent Dorey teaches on the Bachelor in Business Development and Master’s in International Business Development programmes, particularly to Erasmus+ exchange students.
His teaching approach draws on his international professional experience and research work to offer courses focused on practical application, current economic issues and strategic thinking. He also supervises several cohorts of students writing their final dissertations, providing demanding and personalised support.
A publication that reflects EKLYA's mission
Laurent Dorey’s book perfectly illustrates the values upheld by EKLYA School of Business:
- teaching methods connected to market realities
- an international outlook
- a constant link between theory, practice and research
- high-quality support to train the professionals of tomorrow
This research work is also a source of inspiration for anyone wishing to start or develop a business in a globalised, agile and inclusive economic environment.
